A NOTE FROM MEG DELOATCH
Series Creator, Showrunner, Executive Producer

We’re back, and we’re better than ever! Welcome to the second season of Family Reunion. I am immensely proud of this series that presents an authentic multigenerational African American family who laugh hard and love harder. It’s written by an all-Black writing staff, who’ve carefully woven their diverse experiences into a cultural quilt of comedy, current events, and an understanding of what it means to be Black in America today, as well as in the past.

One of the things I love most about Family Reunion is that even as a family sit-com that appeals to younger audiences, we strive to deliver an entertaining and thought-provoking show for adults as well. We walk the line between gently introducing difficult subjects to children and going deep enough to satisfy more mature viewers.

In Part 3, the McKellans will grapple with comprehending death, experience financial insecurity, explore the awkwardness of discussing race with nonblack friends, and fight gentrification after discovering the importance of knowing their history. The younger characters learn from the lived experiences of their elders.

Capitalizing on the multi-talented cast, led by Loretta Devine and Tia Mowry, there are several musical episodes, including our part 3 premiere where Anika Noni Rose guest stars as Mazzi’s music teacher and improbable first crush.

I invite you to indulge in an unapologetically old school sitcom shot through a new school lens. Sit back, relax, and grab a slice of sweet potato pie, Family Reunion is comfort viewing with substance – truly it’s soul food without the calories.

Synopsis
When the McKellan family moves from Seattle to Georgia to be closer to extended family, the transition is like being a catfish out of water. From three-hour church services and huge humidity hair to M’Dear’s home cooking and family bonding, the everyday ups and downs of Family Reunion are real, memorable, toe tapping, heart stopping, laugh out loud authentic moments. The series stars Emmy-Award winner Loretta Devine (Grey’s Anatomy, The Carmichael Show) and Tia Mowry (Sister, Sister, Instant Mom).
