“Roses! I swear you men have all your romance from the same worn book.
Flowers are a good thing, a sweet thing to give a lady.
But it is always roses, always red, and always perfect hothouse blooms when they can come by them.”
― Patrick Rothfuss, The Name of the Wind

Giambattista Valli Fall 2017

Designer Joseph Massie used 1,725 red roses to create this stunning floral gown.

The floral designer used petals from 1,000 Naomi red roses for the full body of the gown, 15 Carmen roses and 200 chrysanthemums, decorated with gold-leaf, along the hip and skirt of the dress, and petals from 150 purple roses, 75 gerberas, and 300 carnations for the hem.

The dress took an incredible 170 hours to make! And the model topped off the flower-inspired look by wearing a pair of rose petal-covered stilettos.
